Nehemiah 8 relates the keen desire of God's people for instruction in the the Book of the Law, and a desire to understand it. They knew their national safety lay not in the high walls of the city but in obeying the Lord. Here, our pressing need to have a clear grasp of God's Word and the helpfulness of expository preaching. Also, how the joy of the Lord is our strength.
